I have a dream too, Mr. King

I have a dream.

I have a dream that one day
150 million kids will no longer have to
live,
sleep,
play,
steal,
hide,
work,
or grow up
on the streets.

I have a dream
that these kids will all one day sleep in a bed,
and eat whole meals prepared lovingly for them by a family,
instead of digging through trash dumps for spoiled food
and sleeping in empty graves or in back corners of alleyways.

I have a dream that one day
these children will no longer be thrown out to the streets,
viewed as dispensable to some and invisible to most.
But instead, they will be seen and known,
as human beings,
and as children.
They will live with dignity and hope
because God’s people believe in them,
love them, see them,
and fight for them.

I have a dream that all these kids will one day
choose to throw out their paint thinner
and stop huffing to get high,
because miraculously instead-
they’ve found reasons to live for the Most High.

I have a dream for life to come from death.
Like the valley of dry bones
God come and breathe life into them.
Hearts of stone become new hearts of flesh
and beauty deeply cover all their ashes.

I have a dream that one day
these kids will get to be kids
and adults will start acting like adults.
Kids wont have to steal food
just to survive one more day,
and 9 year old girls wont have to
sell their bodies to grown men for a dollar
just to buy food for younger siblings at home.

Street Children Brothers

I have a dream for every single street child
who has ever been
abused,
neglected,
abandoned,
forgotten,
ignored,
raped,
or beat
in the dark of the night
to find healing and wholeness
in the embrace of the Light.

I have a dream that one day
there will be a home just especially for them.
A home for kids to come off the streets
and find a fresh start, a new life.
A safe place for healing to happen
and education to become reality.
A home full of grace, food, and laughter.
Yes…lots of laughter.

I have a dream that one day
all street kids will no longer be judged
by the dirt on their skin or the smell of their clothes,
but by the immense value of their souls.
They will be seen as
worthy, valuable, precious,
and deep down even the children themselves,
will believe this is true.

I have a dream for 150 million.
But I have a dream for even just one,
to be extravagantly cared for and patiently loved,
deeply healed and beautifully redeemed,
and ultimately to know the One
who IS all of these things.
